The detection of point targets in complex environment is a problem of critical importance to Infrared Search and Track (IRST) systems. This paper presents techniques of wavelet treatment for analyzing and improving the detection performance of IRST systems. Only single frame processing will be addressed. The wavelet decomposition has been proved to be an effective method for analyzing the singularities of the signal . Through analyzing the features of pulse signal square wave white noise transforming on different wavelet scales, an efficient way to extract point objects in the presence of large clouds is presented. The way is prior to that using local adaptive matched filters.
scite is a Brooklyn-based organization that helps researchers better discover and understand research articles through Smart Citations–citations that display the context of the citation and describe whether the article provides supporting or contrasting evidence. scite is used by students and researchers from around the world and is funded in part by the National Science Foundation and the National Institute on Drug Abuse of the National Institutes of Health.
