Dynamic loads, such as earthquakes, can cause damage to soils, especially from soil liquefaction.Liquefaction analyses provide more reliable results when combined with the properties of soils and earthquakes. In recent years, computer programs have been developed in which many parameters can be used to perform these analyses for solving geotechnical engineering problems. SoilEngineering is a Microsoft Excel-based geotechnical design program with which calculations can be carried out and graphical results can be achieved based on empirical relationships. In this study, the effects of soil and earthquake parameters on soil liquefaction were analyzed using a standard penetration test (SPT) and shear wave velocity (Vs). We observed that there is conformity between the parameters used in different techniques. Taken together, our results show that calculating the liquefaction risk using both soil and earthquake properties will produce reliable results in solving geotechnical problems.

scite is a Brooklyn-based organization that helps researchers better discover and understand research articles through Smart Citations–citations that display the context of the citation and describe whether the article provides supporting or contrasting evidence. scite is used by students and researchers from around the world and is funded in part by the National Science Foundation and the National Institute on Drug Abuse of the National Institutes of Health.
