In this article, the idiographic critical values of welding velocity and inclination angle in neodymium-doped yttrium aluminum garnet (Nd:YAG) laser-melt active gas (MAG) hybrid welding on downhill welding Q235B mild steel in comparison with MAG welding are investigated. Results show that enhancing heat input augments the critical welding velocity and critical inclination angle between the welding plate and the horizontal plane in downhill MAG welding and laser-MAG hybrid welding. Besides, compared with MAG welding, the critical welding velocity and inclination angle in laser-MAG hybrid welding are greater because of the addition of YAG laser. Furthermore, in the MAG welding and hybrid welding, the variational trends of inclination angle and welding velocity are consistent, because of the molten metal filling welding seam to form eligible welding joint and the gravity of droplet changing with appropriate welding parameters.
scite is a Brooklyn-based organization that helps researchers better discover and understand research articles through Smart Citations–citations that display the context of the citation and describe whether the article provides supporting or contrasting evidence. scite is used by students and researchers from around the world and is funded in part by the National Science Foundation and the National Institute on Drug Abuse of the National Institutes of Health.
