Nursing auditing is used to evaluate the nursing care given to achieve deserved and feasible quality of nursing care. Aims of this study were to assess current nursing performance for patients undergoing hemodialysis, Develop nursing care standards and identify the gap between the current nursing management and nursing care standards for those patients. Research design: Exploratory research design was used. Setting: The study was conducted in dialysis unit at Ma , an governmental hospitals-Jordan Subjects: The sample in this study is composed of all available nurses (40 nurses) who are providing direct care to patients in hemodialysis units at previously mentioned hospital. Tools of Data Collection: Self-Administered Interview Questionnaire sheet, an observational check, developed Nursing Care Standards for Patients undergoing haemodialysis, and Nursing Care Standards checklist. Results: Around half of nurses their knowledge score ranged between good and fair regarding renal failure and dialysis. Only 25 % of nurses done correctly in nursing standers 4 about patient educated before discharge. Conclusion: about quarter of nurses perform after dialysis steps incorrectly. There was no statistical significant difference between routine care and standers nursing care for patient undergoing hemodialysis. Recommendations: Written standards of care against which to evaluate nursing care. Training for auditors should include a group discussion to see how the group rates the care received using the notes of a patient.
Epilepsy is a brain disorder in which clusters of nerve cells, or neurons, in the brain sometimes signal abnormally. Neurons normally generate electrochemical impulses that act on other neurons, glands, and muscles to produce human thoughts, feelings, and actions. In epilepsy, the normal pattern of neuronal activity becomes disturbed, causing strange sensations, emotions, and behavior, or sometimes convulsions, muscle spasms, and loss of consciousness: More than 2 million people in the United States about 1 in 100 have experienced an unprovoked seizure or been diagnosed with epilepsy. For about 80 percent of those diagnosed with epilepsy, seizures can be controlled with modern medicines and surgical techniques. However, about 25 to 30 percent of people with epilepsy will continue to experience seizures even with the best available treatment. The nurse plays a critical role in reducing complications of this method .The aim of the present study is 3 folds: first is to assess nurse's knowledge and practice regarding epileptic patients, design nursing protocol for nurses working with epileptic patient , and evaluate the effect of implementing the designed nursing protocol on nurse's knowledge and practice regarding epileptic patients. Four hypotheses were formulated: (1) the post mean knowledge scores of nurses who will be exposed to designed nursing protocol will be higher than their pre mean knowledge scores. (2) The post mean practice score of nurses who will be exposed to designed nursing protocol will be higher than their pre mean practice scores. (3) The incidence of complications during seizure for epileptic patient cared by nurses after protocol implementation will be lesser than that developed pre protocol implementation. (4) A positive relationship will exist between knowledge and practice score obtained by nurses receiving the designed nursing protocol. Research design: aquasi-experimental research design was utilized in this study on a convenient sample of 35 nurses and 30 Adult conscious patients with epilepsy, who are aged from 18 to 65 years from both sexes, agree to participate in the study. This study was conducted in the in neurological department at Assiut University Hospital. Tools utilize for data collection were a) Questionnaire sheet. .b) Observation checklist sheet. c) Patient assessment sheet. d) Construction of designed nursing protocol. Results: The first and the second hypotheses were supported as a good improvement in the mean knowledge & practice scores were found after the implementing of designed nursing protocol. The third hypothesis was supported, as epilepsy complications were improved after protocol implementation. The fourth hypothesis were not able to extract the statistical significance of the relationship between knowledge and nursing practices before and after the study due to the result is one and zero. Conclusion: patient with epilepsy exposed for several complications. Improving nurses' knowledge and practice can favorable affect the incidence of these complications. Recomm...
Radioactive iodine therapy is the most common treatment for Graves' disease and toxic multi-nodular goiter in adult Aim: to evaluate the effect of nursing instructions on life style of thyroid disorders patients receiving radioactive iodine therapy (RAI). Patients and methods: the study was conducted in Nuclear Medicine department of Assiut university hospital and South Egypt Cancer Institute. A convenience sample (60) adult thyroid disorder patients from both sex, who were admitted in the Nuclear Medicine department for RAI therapy. Tools Patient interview Questionnaire, patient's life style questionnaire: (Walker, K. Sechirst, N. Pender., 1995) and designed nursing instructions booklet Results: the study group patient achieved a satisfactory level of knowledge after application of the nursing instructions (86.7%). There was a highly statistically significant difference between the study group pre & post implementation of the nursing instructions (P.v 0.001). Conclusion: there was an improvement in knowledge level after implementation of the nursing instructions in the study group, 86.7%, there was a highly statistically significant difference between the study group patients pre and post application of nursing instructions. An improvement of life style in the study group after implementation of nursing instructions. Recommendations: Equip the nuclear unit with: nursing instructions booklet covering instructions about improving life style of patients receiving RAI therapy.

Background: Venous thromboembolism (VTE) refers to a blood clot that starts in a vein. It includes both deep vein thrombosis and pulmonary embolism. Aim: Evaluate the effect of implementation of educational nursing protocol on minimizing VTE for patients undergoing simultaneously arthroscopic anterior cruciate ligament reconstruction (ACLR) and high tibial osteotomy (HTO). Research design: Quasi experimental (Pre/posttest) research design was utilized. Subjects: A convenient sample of 30 adult patients undergoing simultaneously arthroscopic ACLR and HTO (age: 18 to 50 years old) both sexes were recruited. Setting: The study was conducted in the Unit of Arthroscopy and Sports Injuries in Orthopedic Department and the Arthroscopic Outpatient Clinic at Assiut University Hospital. Tools: (I) Pre/post patient structured interview questionnaire and (II) VTE evaluation sheet. Result: there was statistical significant difference regarding total knowledge score for studied patients in pre and post implementing nursing protocol and no patients were developing VTE. Conclusion: the study findings revealed that educational nursing protocol were significally effective in improving patient's knowledge about VTE and in preventing VTE.
