Introduction The sub-acute form of transverse colon volvulus manifests with signs and symptoms of large bowel obstruction. The diagnosis is most often done intraoperatively. We report a rare case of transverse colon volvulus in a 65-year-old female patient with no particular pathological or surgical history. Case presentation Sub-acute transverse colon volvulus in an elderly woman with no pathological or surgical history. Manifested with signs and symptoms of colonic obstruction. Surgically treated by a two-stage procedure with good postoperative outcomes. Discussion The transverse colon volvulus represents only 2–4% of all colonic volvulus. We discuss the diagnostic and therapeutic approach of our case of transverse colon volvulus through a literature review. Conclusion Transverse colon volvulus should be considered as a differential diagnosis in the face of large bowel obstruction. Early diagnosis and treatment improve the prognosis.
Aims: Show the importance of imaging in the diagnosis of enteric cysts of the esophagus and the main differences with other mediastinal cystic lesions. Presentation of case: We report a case of an enteric cyst of the esophagus, in a 25 year old patient, with dyspnea on exertion. X-ray shows an oval opacity in the posterior mediastinum and the CT scan and MRI show a cystic mass of the posterior mediastinum, presenting intimate contact with the esophagus, with discreet wall contrast enhancement. Discussion and Conclusion: Enteric duplication cysts are rare congenital malformations formed during the embryonic development of the digestive tract. They are usually detected prenatally or in the first years of life. Their size, location, type and presence of complications produce a varied clinical presentation and different imaging findings. They most frequently occur in the small intestine, particularly the ileum, but can occur anywhere along the gastrointestinal tract. In the case of an enteric cyst of the esophagus, the first imaging method for diagnosis is the chest x-ray because of the breathing difficulty patients can experience due to compression of the airway. Magnetic resonance (MR) and computed tomography (CT) can help the radiologist in the diagnosis and the surgeon by evaluating more precisely the mass measurements and describing its anatomical relationship with the vessels and surrounding organs. Confirmation remains histological.
Aims: To show the value of ultrasound in the diagnosis of tubular ectasia of the rete testis. Case presentation: We report the case of a 60 year old patient, without any notable history, in whom a cystic dilatation of the rete testis was revealed, following a scrotal trauma. Discussion and conclusion: Tubular ectasia of the rete testis is a pathologically benign process with a complex and varied etiology. It should be differentiated from neoplastic disease of the test is based on the patient's age, mode of presentation, tumor marker status, and characteristic findings on ultrasound and Doppler studies. Knowledge and diagnosis of this clinical entity may avoid unnecessary surgery in these patients.
