Until the inception of Web 1.0, the Information Retrieval was the center of the stage for library and it was defined as search and passive. Later on, the emergence of Web 2.0 was encouraged into the community, social interaction and user-generated content. Web 3.0 is a modern phenomenon and also known to "3D Web or the Semantic Web", and it often used for specifically to formats and the technologies. The advanced Web 4.0 is the Ultra-Intelligent Agent Interactions between humans and machines. Semantic web technology finds meanings from various sources to enabling the machines and people to understand and share knowledge. The semantic web technology helps to add, change and implement the new relationships or interconnecting programs in a different way which can be as simple as changing the external model that these programs are shared. To give an information need, the semantic technologies can directly search, capture, aggregate, and make a deduction to satisfy the user needs. The paper presents a framework for knowledge representation assembling semantic technology based on ontology, semantic web, and an intelligent agent algorithm as a connectivity framework to share the appropriate knowledge representation which includes the web ontology language that discovers related information's from various sources to serve the information needs. The research addresses the intelligent agent algorithm is the key contribution that reveals appropriate information and empowers Web 3.0 and embraces Web 4.0 into the coming semantic web technology.
Aesthetic denotes the high loading of general feeling, beauty, and meaningfulness. The aesthetic of the web interface is vital since it could influence the users' initial impression, attention, satisfaction, subjective experiences and successful communications. However, the aesthetics of the web interface is very subjective because different individuals might have their own perspective. Hence, the judgement whether the web interface is aesthetically appealing or not, is not absolutely accurate and reliable based on the subjective evaluation. As a result, there is uncertainty in the decision of aesthetically web interfaces. Thus, in order to response to this issue, this research aims to construct a model that can objectively measure the aesthetic of the web interface. The present study intends to focus on the web-based learning interface because the aesthetic of the interface could attract students to the content of the learning modules and drive students to further explore the learning materials. The objectives of this research are to design web-based learning interfaces based on the aesthetic design principles selected, to develop a model for measuring aesthetic web-based learning interfaces based on Fuzzy Analytic Hierarchy (FAHP) approach and, to evaluate the proposed model in a web-based learning domain. In order to construct an aesthetic measuring model for web interfaces, this study will employ FAHP approach. The expected findings of the current research are the ranking of aesthetic criteria that used to create the web interfaces, and subsequently, can give a consistent criterion that could contribute to the aesthetic of web interfaces, this research is significant because it is able to produce a model that can assist in determining the aesthetic web-based learning interfaces. Taken together, it is also could contribute to the body of knowledge in the interface design and decision support system fields.
The development of technology and internet has contributed to more people viewing on-screen content and an increase the amount of material that can be read directly from a Web-based platform. The transformation from paper-based materials to digital materials on the Web, more or less has affected the readability of the materials in which information presented on the printed and web-based documents is dissimilar. However, only few studies have been carried out on the presentation of information specifically, the readability of the text in web-based platform. Meanwhile, readability is one of the crucial aspect of Web usability and could affect the success of a website. The speed of reading is regarded as a good measure of readability. Therefore, this study aims to measure the readers reading speed for web interfaces. This study followed a quantitative analysis method that used experiments to collect data and involved university students as the test subjects. A Web-based Reading Speed Test System (RSTS) was developed for data collection and analysis purpose. The findings of this study found that the web interface with the combination of blue font color, yellow background color and Arial font type have the highest reading speed. In contrary, web interface that consists of combination black font color, white background color and Arial font type have the lowest reading speed. In addition, the reading speed of male participants was slightly higher than the female participants. To conclude, the results of this study signify that the interface design had a significant impact on the students reading speed for web pages.
scite is a Brooklyn-based organization that helps researchers better discover and understand research articles through Smart Citations–citations that display the context of the citation and describe whether the article provides supporting or contrasting evidence. scite is used by students and researchers from around the world and is funded in part by the National Science Foundation and the National Institute on Drug Abuse of the National Institutes of Health.
