Cultural heritage item preservation, renovation and adaptation to the social needs of people, as well as their passing from generation to generation, is a problem relevant from economic, historical, archeological, religious, technological, research and other perspectives. They are typical strategic multi-criteria decision-making problems. The state institutions and the owners and managers of the heritage items invest in their preservation. In fact, every country has a great number of the registered heritage structures. To ensure their effective management and renovation, a lot of implementation projects and strategies should be developed and evaluated. This work requires large investments and time. The paper presents a hybrid model developed for ranking the heritage buildings intended for renovation according to their value. The model for problem solution based on integrated using two MCDM methods Analytic Hierarchy Process and EDAS. A set of the criteria for evaluating the projects, concerning the renovation of cultural heritage items defined.
Numerous countries are trying to find the best solution for conservation, restoration or reuse of the heritage buildings, preserving their cultural, historical, ethnic and spiritual values. The scientists, researchers and government are analysing the problems concerning with heritage building’s, like seismic issues, energy saving, sustainability, structures, materials and adaptive reuse. Since, heritage buildings’ reuse and preservation are characterized by multiple criteria, a multi-criteria decision making (MCDM) methods are useful in finding rational solutions for the previously mentioned problems. The current paper aims to overview papers on the MCDM approaches application in regard to heritage buildings’ reuse and preservation area. This study employs a bibliometric data analysis to explore state-of-the-art of the defined topic and an in-deep analysis – to synthesize the knowledge domain and critically evaluate a thorough literature in the analysed topic. As a result, scientific maps were created to reveal the knowledge domain of MCDM approaches in heritage buildings’ reuse and preservation. Finally, research gaps and future research directions are identified. Results of the analysis shows that till now MCDM approaches are not widely used in solving heritage buildings reuse and preservation issues. Moreover, there is luck of complex problem solving approach in cultural heritage buildings area.
The low bid is the most common applicable method in the contractor selection process, considering by only one dominant
criterion. However, the lowest price criterion not allows selecting qualified, responsible, sophisticated, and knowledgeable contractor
for cultural heritage projects. Moreover, the improper contractor selection may induce claims, litigation, and poor quality work,
increased costs for project performance or management. Selection of appropriate contractor is very important for the success and
excellent accomplishment of cultural heritage projects. This study presents criteria evaluation for contractor selection in cultural
heritage projects. This paper provides reviews of contractor selection and proposed criteria evaluation, and determines the criteria of
culture heritage contractor selection. This study applies the multiple criteria approach: AHP, PROMETHEE and EDAS approaches.
