As mentioned by Getzlaf, Perry, Toffner, Lamarche, & Edwards (2009), qualitative feedback is exceptionally important for the students of Distance Learning Programs, thus it provides guidelines on their effort of academic improvement. Understanding the importance of giving qualitative essay feedback whilst on a Distance Learning environment, we thought it would be necessary to investigate the types, the content and the methods of the feedback returned to the students by Greek Distance Learning programs, which adds positively to their self efficacy, on an effort to conclude on guidelines that would help the teachers of the fore mentioned programs on their teaching goals. The purpose of this study is to investigate the relationship between giving qualitative feedback on students of Greek Distance Learning programs and their proficiency at their studies, examining also which types of feedback are considered more effective by them. This paper additionally examines how communication between teachers and students would affect the way students apprehend the given feedback as well as the way feedback is perceived by students throughout their studies from the beginning to the end. The results of the study come to validate what is reported in the last decade's literature on the subject and mark the importance of giving various types of feedback as well as point out the need of positive relationship between students and their teachers.
