The number of drug trafficking crimes does not show a tendency for decreasing. Statistics shows that the number of drug crimes varies within the limits that do not allow suggesting the success in the fight process. The rate of growth or decline, as a rule, is explained by amendments in legislation. This can be obviously seen in the example of judicial statistics on the number of sentences handed down, as well as on the types and limits of the sentences imposed. All of that calls for a steady increase in the pace and scope of the fight against drug crimes, especially in the Far Eastern Federal Region of the Russian Federation.
