The checklist is based on 137 references and it includes data on the distribution of 220 taxa of lichenicolous fungi in Ukraine. Four species are based on dubious records. The Crimea (80 species) and Carpathians Mts (64 species) have highest observed species diversity of the lichenicolous fungi. Among plain territories, most species-rich regions are Kherson (64 species) and Mykolaiv (37 species), and both regions were intensively surveyed for lichenicolous fungi.
Revision of Ukrainian Lichenoconium specimens is provided. This genus is characterized by immersed to semiimmersed black globose conidiomata, phialidic hyaline conidiogenous cells and olive to brown simple conidia. Seven species of the genus are reported from the territory of Ukraine. These are L. aeruginosum, L. erodens, L. lecanorae, L. lichenicola, L. pyxidatae, L. usneae and L. xanthoriae. These species were found on thalli and apothecia of 18 different genera of lichens. Lichenoconium aeruginosum, L. lichenicola and L. pyxidatae have clear host specificity and grow only on one host genus. Other four species do not have host specificity. Lichenoconium erodens and L. lecanorae are widespread in Ukraine. Lichenoconium usneae is reported for the first time from the steppe zone of Ukraine. Seirophora lacunosa is a new host species of L. usneae. New localities of L. lichenicola and discussion about older dubious records are presented. Investigated Licheniconium species has parasitic life-strategy and affected the lichens that have mechanical damage or those weakened by other lichenicolous fungi. Lichenoconium pyxidatae and Didymocyrtis cladoniicola play an important role in regulating the populations of Cladonia foliacea in the Lower Dnipro sands. This phenomenon is known as "phomosis of Cladonia". Description, host lichens species, data about distribution in Ukraine, examined specimens and notes are provided for each species. An original identification key for Ukrainian species of Lichenoconium is given.
A taxonomic revision of the genus Zwackhiomyces in Ukraine is provided. The genus is characterized by globose to pyriform ascomata, brown wall pigments deposited between the cells, branched and anastomosing interascal filaments, fissitunicate asci and 0-1-sepate hyaline ascospores. Previously, ten species of Zwackhiomyces were known in Ukraine. They are Z. berengerianus, Z. calcariae, Z. cervinae, Z. coepulonus, Z. diederichii, Z. dispersus, Z. lecanorae, Z. lithoiceae, Z. polischukii, and Z. sphinctriniformis. Three species, Zwackhiomyces calcisedus, Z. inconspicuus, and Z. macrosporus, are for the first time reported in the country. Zwackhiomyces dispersus is a new record for the plain part of Ukraine. All species of these lichenicolous fungi were found on 10 different host genera. Rinodina calcarea is a new host species for Z. inconspicuus. All examined species have commensal life strategies, and infection does not cause any visible damage or discoloration of the host thallus and apothecia. Zwackhiomyces lecanorae and Z. inconspicuus can grow on several different host genera. Other species show strict host specificity. Two species, Z. coepulonus and Z. lecanorae, are apparently widespread in Ukraine. Description, host lichen species, data about distribution, examined specimens and notes are provided for each species. An original key to species of Zwackhiomyces in Ukraine is proposed.
