Германа I (†1682). The article summarizes new studies of the life and work of the Resurrection Archimandrite. Hermann I (†1682). Hypotheses about the poet's origin are noted, the study of his Spiritual testament and musical heritage is highlighted, the historical realities underlying the two works written by him are considered. The petition to the brethren of the New Jerusalem Monastery to Tsar Fyodor Alekseevich with a request to return His Holiness Nikon (†1681) from exile is characterized as the fictional prose of a hymnist who created a semantic portrait of the Patriarch with the help of metaphors and typological similarities. The chant dedicated to the feast of the Transfiguration of the Lord is associated with the name of the Metropolitan of Nizhny Novgorod and Alatyr Filaret (†1694).
