The problem of interpreting and changing the meaning of terms is relevant in many sciences, including in linguistics. The authors touch on the problem of different interpretations of basic terms in the landscape studies. The article deals with the history of the origin of the terminological vocabulary of the landscape science, describes the problems associated with its use by specialists and the changing meanings of terms over the past decades. Whereas these terms are mostly used interchangeably, there are obviously some fine differences in meaning. In this paper, important moments of the scientific understanding of the basic terms of landscape are presented.Keywords: terminology, terminology of the landscape science, a term, basic terms of the landscape science, interpretation of a term, changing the meaning of a term.
The article is devoted to the analysis of one of the concepts of new forms of political communication - SOFT POWER concept, introduced by Joseph Nye and representing a political metaphor. The authors analyze the history of the emergence and encyclopedic information about this concept. In the focus of our attention are the mechanisms of metaphorical representation of SOFT POWER concept. The most productive means of its objectification in the political media discourse is the subject metaphorical model. High frequency of the conceptual metaphor SOFT POWER → RESOURCE proves the “resource” understanding of “soft power”.
