The influence of natural basalt fiber on the thermal properties, performance, and structure of composites based on ultrahigh molecular weight polyethylene has been studied. It has been found that the rate of wear of PCM mass based on UHMWPE modified by 5 wt % of basalt fiber is reduced up to 7.7 times while the elasticity is maintained, the strength is increased, and elastic modulus of the composites is improved 30-40%. The efficiency of using basalt fibers in order to obtain materials with improved wear resistance and improved physical and mechanical characteristics is shown.
scite is a Brooklyn-based organization that helps researchers better discover and understand research articles through Smart Citations–citations that display the context of the citation and describe whether the article provides supporting or contrasting evidence. scite is used by students and researchers from around the world and is funded in part by the National Science Foundation and the National Institute on Drug Abuse of the National Institutes of Health.
