The baseline conditions of technology for producing and burning coal-water slurries in Russia and foreign countries is exposed. The technological and economic efficiency of using this technology for the coal processing and cleaning waste disposal is shown at experimental and industrial facilities. The feasibility studies of the technology usage at large Kuzbass thermal power plants are presented. The possibility of solving a serious environmental problem of reducing the storage of the most coal washing toxic waste volume in the areas where coal processing plants and coal mining enterprises are located is demonstrated. It is shown that on the basis of these wastes, it is possible to prepare a suspension coal-water fuel with a solid phase content of 56-59%, with the required structural and rheological characteristics and a lower calorific value of up to 13 MJ/kg. The boiler with a thermal capacity of 0.58 MW with an eddy combustion system, which effectively operates on coal-processing waste fuel is designed, manufactured and tested. The results of the boiler operation on the specified fuel showed its high efficiency (efficiency is 83-85%) with the level of harmful emissions in the flue gases significantly lower than the permissible values.
The long-term trends of world energy development envisage a radical increase in the energy efficiency, an increase in its quality indicators, and a transition from fossil fuels to the use of sustainable energy technologies. The article presents an algorithm developed by a team of authors for planning, implementing, and evaluating economic efficiency of benchmarking sustainable energy technologies in cross-border regions. Its use will allow optimizing the energy intensity of enterprises, ensuring energy security, economic efficiency and environmental stability of adjacent territories, preserving the mineral resource base, and improving the quality of life of the population.
Study of Russian researchers’ works, as well as official methods devoted to various issues of evaluating performance of enterprises, allowed us to conclude that these methods are generally not focused on environmental factors specific to the industry. Availability of strategic management tools to clearly identify enterprise’s position in the same industry segment is in high demand in the context of changes rate increase and ability to adjust the strategy. The study is based on methodological premise that in enterprises with corporate strategies have remained stable in conditions of crisis processes in economy. Using a toolkit based on benchmarking, gap analysis and process approach, and sets of key indicators of efficiency of the basic functional strategies implementation (financial, marketing, technological strategies and human resource management strategy), we have made an integral assessment of the results of corporate strategies implementation in Russian ferrous metallurgy enterprises in conditions of 2014 crisis. We have defined the “best in class” enterprises and “potential bankrupts” in 2014 which has allowed us to calculate average values and median value for ferrous metallurgy enterprises, to identify position of each enterprise and to assess the gap of integral efficiency indicators of basic functional strategies and corporate strategy implementation.
