The article presents the conceptual framework for preparing students for research activities in the context of competence-oriented engineering education that provide for a focus on the program-target education quality management system; incorporation of employers' requirements to the preparation of technical university graduates for research activities and provisions of occupational standards. Inquiry-based learning has been considered the basis for the establishment of the innovative didactics of a technical university that enables implementation of the requirements of educational standards of competitive graduates. Content of the innovative didactics of the technical university presented as a functional model fosters the creative development of students, their research capabilities and functional research skills as universal ways of interaction with the outside world. The elaborated and experimentally tested functional model of the establishment of technical university students' research competencies has been considered. This model provides for the creation of the development-promoting educational environment at the university in the course of theoretical, production and hands-on training, independent and research activities. These activities are performed using the elaborated practice-focused techniques, special-purpose forms and means of extracurricular activities; information technology, network educational resources; system of tasks, comprehensive, end-to-end research projects, interactive forms and methods; students' self-testing and self-evaluation in the process of training.
This article analyzes the classes of oil and petroleum product pipelines, classification of pipes for long-distance oil pipelines is presented, welding of long-distance pipelines for transportation of oil and petroleum products in severe climatic environment using conventional procedures is described, advantages and disadvantages of these procedures are highlighted. Possible application of hybrid laser arc welding is considered regarding oil pipelines of structural alloy steels, its advantages are determined as well as factors limiting its wide scale application. The technology of hybrid laser arc welding of seams of thick-walled pipe ends is considered with simultaneous application of two laser beams from external surface of joint of pipe ends. Its advantages are highlighted. Automated combined full wire welding of root weld layer in carbon dioxide and gas-shielded flux-cored wire welding of filling and facing runs are discussed which provide minimization of the influence of human factor on welding, promotion of welding operator trainings, improvement of mechanical properties of weld joints, which has been exemplified by comparative tests.

Insufficient reliability of determination of amount of delivered goods using transport management system (TMS) is an issue of concern. The importance of the study is stipulated by necessity to optimize procedures related with goods conveyance by automation. The aim of the work is to modernize the TMS upon conveyance of bulk goods, to improve measurements of loading and transportation of bulk goods using TMS. This work analyzes the issue of error minimization in operation of accounting system of conveyed bulk goods, the constituent elements for TMS intended for dump trucks and excavators are presented, the expansion variants for TMS aimed at complete and reliable automated accounting are considered. The presented data demonstrate economic efficiency of modernization of TMS upon conveyance of bulk goods.
В статье определены особенности современной инженерной деятельности, развития производства, мировые тенденции, оказывающие влияние на качество подготовки инженерных кадров. Представлены результаты систематизации и анализа существующих исследований по проблеме исследовательской подготовки обучающихся; систематизированы исследования по вопросу взаимодействия с представителями предприятий и научных организаций в процессе подготовки конкурентоспособных выпускников, обобщен опыт исследований по данному вопросу зарубежных ученых, выделены основные аспекты, которые целесообразно учитывать в практике отечественной инженерной школы; представлены базовые положения для эффективной реализации положений концепции подготовки конкурентоспособного выпускника, обладающего исследовательским потенциалом, в инновационной интегрированной среде инженерного вуза (образование -наука -производство): изменение системы управления качеством инженерного образования, формирование интегрированной образовательной среды на основе взаимодействия с представителями предприятий и научных организаций, структурирование содержания инженерного образования, внедрение новой дидактики инженерного вуза, ориентированной на формирование исследовательских компетенций выпускников, разработка и внедрение форм и методов деятельности обучающихся в процессе теоретического обучения и практической подготовки, разработка и реализация методического обеспечения образовательного процесса, разработка комплекса критериев и показателей, позволяющих оценить уровень сформированности исследовательского потенциала выпускника инженерного вуза.Ключевые слова: исследовательский потенциал, инженерное образование, исследовательские компетенции, конкурентоспособный выпускник, интегрированная образовательная среда, партнерство с представителями предприятий
