The article emphasizes the problem of demographic aging of society, the limitations of social roles to be available to the elderly, cultural forms of activity, opportunities in the areas of life support, communication and recreation. Emphasis is placed on the importance of leisure activities for a sense of stability, stress relief, mitigation of negative social factors, prevention of social conflicts, as well as for intergenerational relations, communication, meeting the leisure needs of the elderly. The important role of non-formal education in the adaptation of older people to modern socioeconomic conditions, maintaining their active position in life and the development of their creative potential is pointed out. Non-formal education technologies provide an opportunity to acquire new knowledge and skills in leisure and everyday life, to expand the cultural worldview and interpersonal communication, to take an active part in various types of socially significant activities. The article has studied out the tasks and functions of the Third Age University, i.e. a socio-cultural center, where older people gain new knowledge on important social issues or improve previously acquired skills and abilities; which provides access to professional, leisure and recreational, household activities, promotes further personal development. Attention is paid to the experience of developed European countries, in which elderly members of the community are encouraged to an active life and self-realization due to creating various educational and leisure facilities. The cultural and leisure potential of the Third Age University, which functionates on the basis of Kremenchuk Institute of Higher Education "Alfred Nobel University" and aims to overcome the stereotypical perception of the elderly as a passive segment of the market, was analyzed. The article has presented the results of the research, which determine the role of cultural and leisure potential of the institution in the integration of the elderly into the modern information society, in maintaining their active lifestyle, realization of their own internal resources, expanding communication opportunities, maintaining positive vitality and improving their quality of life.
