The article is devoted to highlighting the creative use of foreign experience of civic education of high school students in the conditions of the domestic educational environment.The authors define the following characteristics of civic education of schoolchildren in the USA: its priority place among other areas of educational activity; the influence of society's demands and state interests; enshrining in the governing documents, giving the goals and tasks of civic education a normative character; individualization of educational work; wide application of modern material and technical base, including various training and control programs; pronounced practical orientation of educational activities.
