Abstract:The polycarbonate (PC)-based optical diffusers for direct-lit LED backlight unit were prepared by using extrusion compounding followed by compression molding process. The application of inorganic porous silica particles as a diffusing agent in addition to conventional poly(methyl methacrylate) (PMMA) beads was attempted, and the optical, thermal, and mechanical properties of the prepared diffusers were investigated. The morphological observations revealed that the diffusing agents could be uniformly dispersed in the PC matrix without agglomeration by high shear stress generated during extrusion process. The incorporation of the porous silica particles mixed with PMMA beads remarkably enhanced the luminance uniformity with respect to both location and view angle for the diffuser, while minimizing the reduction in the absolute luminance, as compared with the diffuser containing only PMMA beads. In addition, thermal and mechanical properties of the diffusers were shown to be improved upon addition of the porous silica particles.
With the increased attention about health care and management of heart diseases, ubiquitous healthcare services and related devices have been actively developed recently. In this paper we developed a mobile healthcare system which consists of smartphone and patch-type ECG measuring device. This system is capable of monitoring, storing, and sending bio signals such as ECG, heart rate, heart rate variability as well as exercise management functions through heart rate zones. With monitoring bio signal continuously by mobile healthcare system and wearable device like us, people can prevent chronic disease and maintain good health. Here we report our implementation results on real platforms.
The C-band compact linear accelerator (linac) is being developed at Dongnam Institute of radiological & Medical Sciences (DIRAMS) for medical and industrial applications. This paper was focused on the output measurement of the electron beam generated from the prototype electron linac. The dose rate was measured in unit of cGy/min per unit pulse frequency according to the IAEA TRS-398 protocol. Exradin-A10 Markus type plane parallel chamber used for the measurement was calibrated in terms of dose to water at the reference depth in water. The beam quality index ( ) was determined by the radiochromic film with a solid water phantom approximately due to low energy electrons. As a result, the determined electron beam output was 17.0 cGy/(minㆍHz). The results were used to monitor the accelerator performance during the development procedure.
scite is a Brooklyn-based organization that helps researchers better discover and understand research articles through Smart Citations–citations that display the context of the citation and describe whether the article provides supporting or contrasting evidence. scite is used by students and researchers from around the world and is funded in part by the National Science Foundation and the National Institute on Drug Abuse of the National Institutes of Health.
