In thi s research, an attempt was made to approach soci al sustai nabi l i ty of resi denti al envi ronments that have been studi ed thus far i n communi ty-ori ented research i n a broader perspecti ve, wi th the ai m to i nduce eval uati on i ndi cators for soci al sustai nabi l i ty of a resi denti al envi ronment that i s ori ented for enhancement of the resi dents' l i fe qual i ty. Fi rst, eval uati on system of soci al sustai nabi l i ty of resi denti al envi ronments i s di vi ded i nto 6 areas that i ncl ude regi onal i ty, di versi ty, fai rness, sati sfacti on of di verse needs, soci al exchange, and parti ci pati on and deci si on maki ng. A subdi vi si on was al so i ntroduced to account for eval uati on properti es by area. Second, regardi ng measurement of l i fe qual i ty i n a resi denti al envi ronment, the scope of eval uati on was di vi ded i nto resi denti al envi ronment di mensi on, resi dent di mensi on, and management di mensi on whi ch can i ncorporate both obj ecti ve eval uati on and subj ecti ve eval uati on i n consi derati on of the fact that i t i nvol ves both physi cal envi ronment and soci o-psychol ogi cal el ements. Thi rd, eval uati on i ndi cators by area were col l ected based on an anal ysi s of precedi ng studi es. For the purpose, a total of 193 i ndi cators were extracted, i ncl udi ng 28 i tems of regi onal i ty area, 26 i tems of di versi ty area, 28 i tems of fai rness area, 58 i tems of sati sfacti on of di verse needs, 34 i tems of soci al exchange area, and 19 i tems of parti ci pati on and deci si on maki ng area. The ki nd of eval uati on i ndi cators have meani ng i n that i t can be used as an eval uati on tool of soci al sustai nabi l i ty that can be appl i ed uni versal l y from the pl anni ng stage. It can be uti l i zed as a basi c data for enhancement of l i fe qual i ty and promoti on of soci al val ues i n a resi denti al envi ronment.
