“…Vanrija humicola was located outside of the Trichosporon species, which has been reported previously [ 2 , 5 , 6 , 21 , 23 ]. As described above, Weiss et al [ 6 ] proposed the use of genus Vanrijia as the genus name, and we follow their suggestion in this report. The genus Vanrija sensu Moore [ 7 ] is polyphyletic; thus the emendation and subsequent reclassification including new combinations is required.…”

“…Each is traditionally characterized based on a combination of serological properties (serogroup) and the major ubiquinone (as the phenotype), as shown in Fig 1a . In the Cryptococcus species mentioned above, Weiss et al [ 6 ] recently reported the amended concept of the genus Vanrija [ 7 ] by following several discussions on this group [ 2 , 3 , 5 ], and proposed the use of Vanrija as the genus name for Cryptococcus humicola and phylogenetically related species.…”

“…The mushroomforming species in the Tremellomycetes and Dacrymycetes are paraphyletic jelly fungi to the Auriculariales and the Sebacinales from the Agaricomycetes . The gelatinous to cartilaginous basidiomes of Tremellomycetes (Bandoni and Ginns, 1998;Esser, 2000;Vizzini, 2007;Millanes et al, 2011;Weiss et al, 2014) and Dacrymycetes (Sierra and Cifuentes, 2005;Shirouzu et al, 2009;Oberwinkler, 2014) are less complex structured compared to the elaborately textured fruiting bodies of most of the Agaricomycetes (Cooke and Berkeley, 1875;Breitenbach and Kr€ anzlin, 1986Figs 1e5). The focus of this review is on fruiting body formation in Agaricomycetes given the frequency and variable complexity of the structures in this grouping and that this grouping is the best explored from a research viewpoint.…”

“…In Trichosporonales, Tetragoniomyces uliginosus ( Tetragoniomycetaceae ) is the sole teleomorph species [2]. T. uliginosus was proposed based on an investigation of specimens and cultures [23]; no yeast form was mentioned, although all Trichosporonaceae species produce budding cells.…”

“…The order Trichosporonales (Basidiomycota) was proposed by Fell et al . [1], comprising two families, Trichosporonaceae and Tetragoniomycetaceae [2, 3]. When Liu et al .…”
