34.1: 100‐MHZ Active‐Matrix Electroluminescent Displays

Abstract

AMEL displays with 12~mx12km pixels in a 1280x 1024 array have been built and operated at 100MHz input data rates. The display accepts data at 100MHz on each of the 8 parallel inputs to support a total pixel data rate of over 800 megabits per second. These high data rates were achieved using a 1.2~m effective channel length body-tied crystalline silicon TFTs fabricated on SOI. This is the highest data rate reported for any flat panel display.
