3D Joints Estimation of the Human Body in Single-Frame Point Cloud

Abstract: Joint estimation of human body in point cloud is a key step for tracking human movements. In this work, we present a geometric method to achieve detection of the joints from a single-frame point cloud captured using a Time-of-Flight (ToF) camera. Three-dimensional (3D) human silhouette, as global feature of the single-frame point cloud, is extracted based on the pre-processed data, the angle and aspect ratio of the silhouette are subsequently utilized to perform pose recognition, and then 14 joints of human bo… Show more

“…According to the disparity map, the coordinate information corresponding to each pixel in the images can be calculated. The method based on spatial points is beneficial to realize rapid 3D point cloud reconstruction of breast model [33]. In the world coordinate system, there is a point P, and its corresponding spatial information is (Xw, Yw, Zw).…”

“…Another type of input is derived from motion capture, where information changes are tracked from one image to another. Models of this kind usually define the optical sequence as a vector describing the movement of pixels in series of still images, while so called scene sequence can be tracked in video materials referring to the motion of three-dimensional objects within the scene, relative to the distance from the camera lens [79].…”
