“…The applicability of the basic grounds related to the EUPEs considered earlier can be illustrated by two binuclear isostructured magnetic molecules Co 2 (μ‐OH 2 )(OOCCMe 3 ) 4 (HOOCCMe 3 ) 4 (Co 2 ‐molecule) and Ni 2 (μ‐OH 2 )(OOCCMe 3 ) 4 (CCOOMe 3 ) 4 (Ni 2 ‐molecule)59 shown in Figure 17. Electronic configurations of Co and Ni atoms are [Ar]3d 7 4s 2 and [Ar]3d 8 4s 2 , respectively, so that the aforementioned molecules are traditionally characterized by six and four magnetic, or odd, electrons, correspondingly.…”

“…Different behavior of the magnetic electrons in the two molecules is well supported experimentally. The Co 2 ‐molecule is weakly magnetic, showing a weak diamagnetism, while its Ni 2 counterpart well exhibits antiferromagnetic behavior 59.…”

“…3), the observed interatomic distances in 8 being substan tially shorter than the corresponding distances found ear lier in the structurally similar dinuclear manganese com plexes (C 10 H 9 N) 2 Mn 2 (OOCCHPh 2 ) 4 , 11 (C 10 H 9 N) 2 Analogous compounds with cobalt (9) and nickel (10) atoms have been synthesized in our earlier study. 3 In the case of the complex with copper atoms, we also used the above described approach.…”

“…In modern terminology, the meaning of “ supramolecular” has become closely related to a strategy to control self-assemblies, tightly linked to coordinative interactions between metals and organic ligands, which also interact through intermolecular forces, such as hydrogen-bonding, donor–acceptor, and π–π stacking interactions . In crystal engineering, some powerful synthetic factors for controlling the self-assembly process and the construction of desired supramolecular architectures with potential applications are at hand, such as the nature of the metal center and its counterions, steric and conformational properties of the organic ligand, , and the reaction conditions. A common feature of such design approaches is the use of polyfunctional organic ligands as geometrically predetermined units, and metal salts containing various counterions with a different ability to coordinate are available in the literature devoted to explore possible correlations between these factors with structural parameters, geometries, and the self-assembly pattern in crystalline networks.…”
