Abstract: The Human Epithelial Cell Cytotoxicity (HECC) Assay (Meth Cell Sci, 22: 17-24, 2000) has been modified to include three additional cell lines and to allow protocol adjustments for slow growing cell lines. This manuscript presents methods using human epithelial cells from ten different normal human tissues including: skin, mammary, prostate, renal, bronchial, lung, oral, ecto-cervix, colon, and liver. The HECC Assay can also be used to evaluate other types of drugs, personal care products, environmental chemica… Show more

“…That means the methanolic soluble fraction has more cytotoxic activity since the existence of the polar compounds. According to Elmore et al (2002), the highest concentration of a test agent in cytotoxicity evaluation should be less than 1.000 μg/mL or 1.000 μM. If none of the concentrations of test agents exhibited cytotoxic effect in excess of 50% of cell populations, the test agent is considered non-toxic against the tested cell line.…”

“…To determine the selectivity of the zafirlukast derivatives synthesized, we tested the most active compounds 22b, 23a, and 23b against immortalized oral keratinocyte cell line OKF6, along with zafirlukast as a control. [40][41][42][43] A preliminary LIVE/DEAD assay was performed after incubating the cells with compounds 22b, 23a, and 23b for 24 h (Fig. 5).…”
