Lepidoptera is an economically important insect pest that attacks many commercially important crops. Synthetic insecticides are currently most extensively utilized to control this pest. The use of massive doses of synthetic pesticides has resulted in resistance and resurgence. Therefore, developing an environmentally acceptable technique for controlling insect pest populations, such as using natural plant components as insecticides, can assist in mitigating the negative impacts of synthetic pesticides. Plant pesticides or botanical insecticides are becoming increasingly popular. This bibliometric research aimed to demonstrate the growth, awareness, importance, international cooperation or collaboration and knowledge gaps in developing synthetic botanical insect pesticides in the future. Information used in this research was culled from 138 scientific papers (Scopus database) and analyzed using VOSviewer 1.6.17. Descriptive statistics was used to identify the rate of botanical insecticide development in controlling these insect pests by analyzing the contributing documents by year, country and bibliometric analysis of country and keyword co-occurrence. The research started in 1985 and exponential growth occurred after 2006. In addition, the trend peaked in 2020 and is currently being maintained. The scientific papers were distributed from 41 countries, with Brazil being the most productive. The bibliographical network shows the relatedness of information about keywords between countries. The results obtained can help recognize existing knowledge gaps that need to be addressed and considered in developing botanical insecticides to control this lepidopteran pest.

Traditional herbal medicine has been playing an essential role in primary health care globally. The aim of this work is to present an overview of traditional herbal medicine research productivity over the past years. The data was accessed from the Scopus database ( www.scopus.com ), while VOSviewer.Var1.6.6, Bibliometrix, and R studio were used for further analysis of the obtained data. The results showed that researches on traditional herbal medicine increased annually after 1990, followed by a corresponding increase in global citations during the period, with a total of 22,071 authors contributing to all the publications. Yiling Wang of Shanghai Institute of Drug Control, Shanghai, China was the most productive author (TNP = 303), while Journal of “Evidence-based Complementary and Alternative Medicine”, and “Journal of Ethnopharmacology” were the top ranked journals, respectively. Also, China, Japan, and India were found to be the top Corresponding Author's Countries for researches on traditional herbal medicine, as Beijing University of Chinese Medicine, China Academy of Chinese Medical Sciences and China Medical University were top affiliations. Moreover, National Natural Science Foundation of China, National Key Research and Development Program of China, Ministry of Science and Technology of the People's Republic of China, and Ministry of Science and Technology, Taiwan were top funding agencies, with more than 100 documents. The bibliometric research study has revealed an annual increasing trend in traditional herbal medicine, while also revealing that the topmost ranked authors and funding agencies were from Asia especially China. Significant research progress has been made towards understanding the Chikungunya virus (CHIKV); however, the research productivity and milestones remain unclear. In this study, we investigated the global research outputs on CHIKV and assessed the landscape and future research directions. The Web of Science Core Collection (WoSCC) database was used to identify the relevant publications. A bibliometric analysis was performed using the bibliometrix package in R, HistCite, and VOSviewer v. 1.6.6. A total of 3,423 relevant studies published from 1963 to 2020 were identified on October 1st 2021. The mean citation score per document was 24, while Hirsch index and Collaboration Index were 124 and 3.8 respectively. The United States contributed the highest number of articles (n=659). The Institut Pasteur took the lead as the most prolific institution, having the highest number of publications (n=178). The top journal was Journal of PLOS Neglected Tropical Diseases with 167 publications. Lastly, most funding for CHIKV research was from the United States Department of Health and Human Services. This article has provided a comprehensive overview of the most significant evolution in the field of CHIKV research in terms of authors, journal, country, institution, research direction, and funding agencies.
