Abstract:A new liquid chromatography system in which tetrabutylammonium bromide semiclathrate hydrate (TBAB-SCH) was used as the column-packing material is proposed to evaluate the adsorption mechanisms of polar small molecules on a TBAB-SCH surface. It is revealed that the more hydrophilic molecules tend to be more strongly retained on the TBAB-SCH/hexane-diethyl ether interface and the retentions of aromatics (ARs) and crown ethers (CEs) are differently controlled. CEs are likely retained on the TBAB-SCH interface vi… Show more
“…MIL-100(Fe) was used as the stationary phase for liquid chromatography (LC) to distinguish slight differences in adsorption behavior between the molecules. LC is a powerful tool not only for studying the adsorption behavior of many molecules, 14,[22][23][24] but also for evaluating molecular adsorption on the stationary phase [25][26][27][28] because adsorption and desorption are repeated between the stationary and mobile phases in a separation column. To characterize the retention of the molecules, the retention factors (k) obtained from the LC measurements were compared with the log P OW values.…”
MIL-100(Fe), one of the water-stable metal-organic frameworks, has potential applications in water purification, sensing, drug storage, and in vivo drug delivery. Molecular adsorption is an important process in these applications,...

scite is a Brooklyn-based organization that helps researchers better discover and understand research articles through Smart Citations–citations that display the context of the citation and describe whether the article provides supporting or contrasting evidence. scite is used by students and researchers from around the world and is funded in part by the National Science Foundation and the National Institute on Drug Abuse of the National Institutes of Health.
