A comparative analysis between price‐penalty factor method and fractional programming method for combined economic emission dispatch problem using novel hybrid CSA‐JAYA algorithm

Abstract: Economic dispatch of power is no more a sole concern for utilities. Instead, the utilities focus on reducing toxic gases emitted to the atmosphere due to the maximum utilisation of conventional fossil-fuelled generators to meet the surging demand for electricity. This can be carried out by involving renewable energy sources (RES) to generate clean power compensating the depletion in the availability of fossil fuels. This article performs combined economic emission disfpatch (CEED) on four dynamic systems with … Show more

“…With each iteration, it tries to move toward the opposite direction of the worst solution among the fitness function and tries to move toward the best value. This characteristic of JAYA is combined with the food-seeking method of the crows search algorithm in hybrid CSAJAYA, 62 and is represented by Equation (15). The combination of crow's food-seeking technique and JAYA's chasing toward the best value of the fitness introduce a new algorithm, hybrid CSAJAYA.…”

“…An interesting work was performed by references [18,19], wherein various methods of CEED were evaluated on different dynamic test systems to sort out the one which gives a proper balance between the generation cost and pollutant emission. This paper covers the research gap of the aforementioned articles by performing a similar study on a grid-connected microgrid system.…”

“…ECD stands for the economic dispatch equation, which is represented technically by Equation (1), and EMD stands for the emission dispatch, which is mathematically described by Equation (2). Then, by reducing the EMD: ECD ratio, a compromised solution may be discovered using the FP approach [18]. This is stated mathematically by the Equation (3).…”
