A comparative study on the nucleation, growth, and agglomeration kinetics of potassium dihydrogen phosphate crystal in circulating fluidized‐bed crystallizer

Abstract: The crystallization in a fluidized‐bed crystallizer has recently received increasing interest for separation and purification of crystals. Past investigations on potassium dihydrogen phosphate (KDP) crystallization mainly focused on process efficiency and thermodynamics and less on kinetics. In this paper, the fluidized crystallization technology is used to investigate a KDP crystallization process. The mechanisms involved in crystal formation have been explored by observation of a continuous withdrawal of a s… Show more

“…11,12 In both pulverised coal-fired boilers or CFB boilers burning such fuels, Na is believed to be the main culprit. [13][14][15] During combustion of Zhundong lignite, Na would release into gas phase and subsequently initiate ash deposition. 12 The released Na would further react with SO x , silicon or other minerals, forming low melting-points Na sulfates and silicates and aggravating ash sintering, melting and deposition.…”

“…Ash deposition and its mechanism burning Zhundong lignite or the alike with high alkali and alkaline earth metals (AAEMs) have been extensively investigated 11,12 . In both pulverised coal‐fired boilers or CFB boilers burning such fuels, Na is believed to be the main culprit 13–15 . During combustion of Zhundong lignite, Na would release into gas phase and subsequently initiate ash deposition 12 .…”

“…e process of fluidized crystallization comprises the characteristics of variable crystal movements and complex fluidization behavior [15]. Hence, it has received more attention due to its high mass transferring efficiency and well multiphase mixing compared to a stirred crystallizer [16]. Hence, a reactive extraction-crystallization coupled process needs to be investigated systematically in a SFBC.…”
