“…This finding is in agreement with other studies, which have shown the inadequacy of hand scrubbing and ultrasonic cleaning in removing organic debris from contaminated endodontic files. 6,18,19 Furthermore, Lowe et al, 20 who studied blood contamination of matrix bands, reported that blood was detected on 32% of hand scrubbed and 3% of ultrasonically cleaned matrix band retainers. They concluded that it was not possible to decontaminate assembled matrix bands using any method currently available to dental practitioners and suggested discarding used matrix bands.…”
