A compensated PID active queue management controller using an improved queue dynamic model

Abstract: SUMMARYBeside the major objective of providing congestion control, achieving predictable queuing delay, maximizing link utilization, and robustness are the main objectives of an active queue management (AQM) controller. This paper proposes an improved queue dynamic model while incorporating the packet drop probability as well. By applying the improved model, a new compensated PID AQM controller is developed for Transmission Control Protocol/Internet Protocol (TCP/IP) networks. The non‐minimum phase characteris… Show more

“…In order to handle such an AQM scheme, common methods are based on the linearization of the TCP core model with control theory from Hollot et al [3] and consist of random early detection (RED) [13], and proportional integral derivative (PID) [14] and contribute a large portion to the queue management field [15]. The primary objectives were to propose more specific design guidelines to improve stability and responsiveness; moreover, the behaviour of RED under a change in network circumstances, namely link bandwidth capacity, is more understandable.…”

“…El tercer panel establece y visualiza los parámetros de presión en el sistema neumático, la temperatura de la cámara, el número de pasadas por minuto, los interruptores del ventilador y lámpara de la cámara y el tiempo del ensayo [19]. En el cuarto panel se determina la configuración del puerto COM, que conecta el cable RS232, que a su vez está conectado al microcontrolador, que grafica las variables de temperatura, pasadas por minuto y presión con respecto al tiempo.…”

“…PI/PID/PD approaches have been widely applied to design AQM algorithms. [11][12][13] With the multiplied increase of business requirement, the network becomes more complex. The time delay and parameters uncertainty are more likely to cause instability.…”
