Workplace mental health challenges have emerged as a significant concern post-pandemic. Despite this, the pervasive stigma surrounding mental illness leads to the concealment of symptoms and reluctance to seek professional help among employees. This study aims to explore the perception of different stakeholders towards the ‘Detection and disclosure’ of workplace mental health challenges in the Indian context. Fifteen semi-structured interviews were conducted with human resource professionals, counselors, and employees who had previously experienced mental health challenge(s). Thematic analysis was done to identify recurring themes and sub-themes. Three critical pathways were identified: minimizing the inhibitory factors, including lack of awareness, denial, low self-efficacy, stigma, and underestimating organizational capability; maximizing the encouraging factors, including psychological safety, perceived social support, and communicating success stories; and implementing supportive organizational practices, including generating awareness and literacy, build the organizational capability, strengthen the role of managers, leadership advocacy, policies, and processes. By fostering a culture of support and prioritizing employee well-being, organizations in India can create healthier and more resilient work environments, benefiting both individuals and the larger society.

Medical facilities are confronted with grave issues, including a population that is aging and a physician shortage. In an effort to address these issues, telehealth and remote health monitoring systems (RHMS) aim to reduce hospital visits by a small amount. RHMS lessens the workload for primary care patients and enhances inter-unit communication, which lessens the strain on emergency rooms. Due to significant advancements in mobile information transfer and processing of signal technologies, some healthcare researchers have made efforts to employ RHMS in place of hospital visits to provide triage and prioritization for individuals. Prioritization is a strategy for giving people urgent medical care in an attempt to save their lives, while clinical examination determines the severity of a sickness or damage. To emphasize the disadvantages of the present patient screening and prioritization system over the telehealth environment, a crucial inquiry is needed. Based on two crucial axes, an in-depth examination of patient prioritization and medical crisis assessment in a videoconferencing setting was provided in this research. First, a collection, analysis, and classification of earlier research on triage of patients and prioritization in this kind of setting was done. Second, a variety of priorities and standards, as well as various approaches and procedures for prioritization, were provided and examined. The subsequent outcomes were attained: The shortcomings and issues with the current patient prioritization and assessment methods were highlighted. The assessment and priority for individuals who have cardiac conditions were not presented. In the years to come, a structure based on the theory of evidence, as well as the incorporation of a multiple-layer analytical hierarchy approach and method for ranking preference due to resemblance to perfect solutions, can be used to prioritize the care of several patients with ongoing cardiovascular disease by triaging them based on various emergencies dimensions.

Parental Neglect, Emotional Regulation and Psychological Adjustment Among Queer and Heterosexual Young Adults

This study explores the intricate dynamics of parental neglect, emotional regulation, and psychological adjustment among queer and straight young adults in India. Using a sample of 108 participants, including 56 from the queer (LGBTQ) group and 52 from the heterosexual (straight) group. Statistical analyses of Pearson’s Correlation Coefficient and Independent Samples T-Test were conducted to test hypotheses. Results reveal a significant negative correlation between parental neglect and psychological adjustment. However, no significant relationship was found between parental neglect and emotional regulation, suggesting a complex interplay between these factors. Additionally, the study examines specific forms of neglect, including physical, emotional, cognitive, and supervisory neglect, highlighting their differential impact on psychological adjustment. Furthermore, analysis of emotional regulation strategies reveals that cognitive reappraisal shows a weak negative correlation with adjustment, expressive suppression demonstrates a weak positive correlation, underscoring the importance of adaptive regulation strategies in promoting well-being. Interestingly, the study finds a significant difference in parental neglect between queer and straight young adults, emphasizing the unique challenges faced by LGBTQ individuals. However, no significant differences are observed in emotional regulation or psychological adjustment between the two groups. Overall, these findings contribute to our understanding of the complex interplay between parental neglect, emotional regulation, and psychological adjustment among young adults in India. By identifying key factors influencing mental health outcomes, the study informs the development of targeted interventions to promote resilience and foster supportive environments for all young adults, irrespective of sexual orientation.
