A Comprehensive review on hydroelectric cell: A green energy source for sustainable development

Abstract: A thorough analysis of the hydroelectric cell, in which electric charges are produced by redox reaction, was attempted. As electrodes, zinc & silver are used, with zinc serving as an anode & silver acting as a cathode. Hydroelectric Cell is a capable, environmentally friendly energy generation system that provides several benefits to humans. HEC is a straightforward, low-cost, & novel technique. The recently developed HEC is proving to be superior alternative to environmentally friendly electrical … Show more

“…3,4 Hydroelectric cells (HECs) play a vital role in the field of production of green energy by splitting water molecules without the use of any external energy sources, such as solar, electrolyte, and acid. [5][6][7] The recently discovered HEC has fascinating applications with the dissociation of water molecules at nanopores, oxygen vacancies, and unsaturated surface cations, and other types of defects on metal oxide surfaces for electricity production 8 . Metal-oxides have fascinating chemical and physical properties, which make them useful in the production of a new class of hydroelectric cells for green energy generation.…”
