A comprehensive review on theoretical framework-based electric vehicle consumer adoption research

Abstract: Summary Green vehicles, such as electric vehicles (EVs), are getting noteworthy popularity among consumers worldwide. The purpose of this paper is to establish EVs as a feasible long‐term solution for the future of technology in the vehicle industry, which can decrease the current dependency on fossil fuels and also decrease greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions. As a part of long‐term benefits, the adoption of EVs gives environmentally friendly innovation to society. Despite positive environmental implications, the … Show more

“…[15][16][17] Although there have been considerable efforts on benefits of EVs, the debates on consumer behavior toward the adoption of EVs are less recognized. 18 Adnan et al 19 conducted a comprehensive review on theoretical framework-based EV consumer adoption research. Their results show that 1 of the major causes of this insubstantial adoption of EVs is largely dependent on the perceptions of consumers regarding EVs.…”

“…Fund innovation in battery technology: To truly make electric vehicles non-polluting, innovations need to happen in battery manufacturing process [11]. Innovations and research also need to happen in other fields related to batteries-e.g., bi-directional charging and battery life-as these features are important for customer satisfaction and adoption of electric vehicles [60]. Government should fund research and organize conferences in this field as improved battery life will increase adoption of electric vehicles and reduced emission from battery manufacturing process will reduce total emissions into the ecosystem [58].…”
