A computer-assisted approach to industrial gas turbine performance calculation

Abstract: This article presents a microcomputer‐based, interactive, menu‐driven visual software package developed to investigate design, off‐design, and transient operations of single‐ and twin‐shaft industrial gas turbines, providing mechanical engineering students with the opportunity for flexible operation within the courseware and its software environment. © 1999 John Wiley & Sons, Inc. “…To prevent user errors and to guide students/engineers, a special sub-program, named as ''Execution Controller'' [1], runs simultaneously with the four main modules. ''Execution Controller'' informs the user not only about the errors but also about the current state of a continuing project by certain messages, as given in Figures 7(a)À(d).…”

“…The utilization of computer technology in individualized education has started in 1970s [1]. With the development of computer technology and multimedia technology, courseware is becoming more and more widely adopted in almost all education levels (primary education [2], middle school education, and college education) [3,4] and most disciplines (mathematics [5À7], electrostatic [8], electromagnetics [9À11], thermotics [12,13], hydraulics [14,15], pneumatics [16], mechanics [17,18], FEM analysis [19,20], Correspondence physics [21], chemistry [22,23], music [23], language [23], programming [24,25], etc). Recent researches also show that courseware can be a valuable complement to education [26À31].…”
