A Cuckoo Search Algorithm with Complex Local Search Method for Solving Engineering Structural Optimization Problem

Abstract: Abstract. The standard cuckoo search algorithm is of low accuracy and easy to fall into local optimal value in the later evolution. In this paper, an improved cuckoo algorithm is proposed. Dynamic change of parameter of probability is introduced to improve the convergence speed. Complex method is quoted to improve the capabilities of local search algorithm. A non-fixed multi-segment mapping penalty function is adopted to realize constraint processing algorithms. The results of the optimization problem constrai… Show more

“…Like the previous strategies, the best answer is handed down to the next generation. Amount of possible host nests is predetermined, and the host has a specific chance of discovering the cuckoo's egg (Qu and He, 2016). Ant Colony Optimization is a system that replicates the attitude of ants in determining the shortest paths among their sources of food and colony.…”

“…Likewise, the design of reliable embedded systems using the CSA as a multi-objective optimization can also be found in [14]. Engineering Structural design optimization and structural damage identification using CSA are investigated in [15], [16]. The CSA is also used in signal processing to design a stable higher order infinite impulse response (IIR) filters such as low pass filter (LPF) and high pass filter (HPF) as indicated in [17].…”
