A digital twins concept model for integrated maintenance: a case study for crane operation

Abstract: The paper presents an Integrated Maintenance Decision Making Model (IMDMM) concept for cranes under operation especially into the container type terminals. The target is to improve cranes operational efficiency through minimizing the risk of the Gantry Cranes Inefficiency (GCI) results based on the implementation of the Digital Twins concept for maintenance purposes. The proposed model makes a joint transportation process and crane maintenance scheduling, relevant to assure more robust performances in stochast… Show more

“…In the context of adoption DTs in crane operations, the authors in [67,68] have proposed a maintenance model called Integrated Maintenance Decision Making Model (IDMM) for cranes operating in control terminals. The IDMM model targets to improve crane operations using DTs technologies by introducing crane maintenance based on Monte Carlo Markov Chain and Particle Swarm Optimization.…”

“…To make the comparison of the results clearer, this study adjusted the sum of the detection result values to 1 for each point. The rate of change of the cross-sectional area of each node on the cable was corrected according to Equation (17), and the results of the detection of the structural safety performance expressed by the corrected rate of change of the cross-sectional area of each node on the cable were used for comparison with the results of the D-S evidence theory. The discrimination of the sensitivity of each node of the cable is presented in Table 3.…”

“…denotes the cross-sectional area of the nodes on the cable after a temperature increase of 55 °C. = * (17) In Equation 17, denotes the corrected rate of change of the cross-sectional area of each node on the cable, and indicates the coefficient of correction of the rate of change, = ∑ * . The rate of change of the cross-sectional area of each node on the cables was calculated according to Equation (16).…”
