A Dynamic Model of an Absorption Chiller for Air Conditioning

Abstract: Abstract. In this paper we study the absorption chiller with a water/lithium bromide solution. Its dynamic behaviour is described by means of constitutive correlationships and conservation equations. We will work out a detailed model linking the plant dynamic behaviour to the various phenomena and their interactions. The model is implemented using Simulink libraries that interact with several S-functions written in the C programming language.

“…Furthermore, the growing requirements related to thermal comfort are also observed. Moreover, in the last few years, there has been increasing attention paid to effective technologies in order to achieve both energy saving and CO 2 emission reduction [3]. As a clean source of energy is needed for refrigeration and air conditioning cycles, a growing interest in the use of solar thermal applications to produce renewable and sustainable energy, coupled with the remarkable progress being made in nanotechnology, has been observed, along with many innovative solutions.…”

“…The simulation based on components for absorption refrigeration is indispensable to achieve the design and optimization for the novel absorption refrigeration. Bittanti et al [12] studied the dynamic behavior of a single effect H 2 O/LiBr system, which is described by means of constitutive correlationships and conservation equations, and worked out a detailed model linking the dynamic behavior to the various phenomena and their interactions. Fu et al [13] presented a model library of absorption systems with different working pairs and cycle configurations to simulate the transient behavior, including startup and shutdown.…”
