A Facile Hg2+‐related Quenching Photoluminescence Sensor Based on Nitrogen‐doped Graphene Quantum Dots

Abstract: A Hg 2+-related quenching photoluminescence (PL) sensor was fabricated based on nitrogen-doped graphene quantum dots (N-GQDs) as the luminescent agent and glutathione as the masking agent to detect Hg 2+ in tap water. The addition of Hg 2+ significantly reduced the PL intensity of N-GQDs, which was attributed to coordination reaction inducing the aggregation of N-GQDs. The Hg 2+-related quenching PL sensor with glutathione as the masking agent has good selectivity and accuracy. The sensor showed a linear relat… Show more

“…Table 2 lists τ 1 , τ 2 , and τ 3 , which were determined from deconvoluted TR‐PL spectra. The τ 1 , τ 2 , and τ 3 represent migration of charge carriers between C 3 N 4 layers, along intralayer C 3 N 4 planes, and within the heptazine rings, respectively 55–57 . All lifetimes were bigger for MCA‐50 than other samples.…”

“…114 The excess or deciency of these metal ions and biomolecules in the body leads to anemia, cancer, limiting oxygen delivery to cells, decreased immunity, organ dysfunction, and many more. 115 This ultimately leads to signicant demand for selective and efficient detection for early identication, quantication as well as early diagnosis of these diseases. Nanomaterials are acting as promising probes for environmental safety.…”

“…Most importantly, this sensor provided a rapid, portable, and reliable analysis method for pesticide detection. Du et al 115 synthesized N-GQDs as the luminescent agent and GSH as the masking agent to detect Hg 2+ in tap water. “…Chlorine (Cl 2 ) gas, one of the most toxic gases, is introduced in various fields in chemical and pharmaceutical industries including water purification, and insecticide production. An accidental leakage of Cl 2 gas had occurred in a factory, leading to have an effect on the health 4 . Therefore, Cl 2 gas monitoring is a significant safety procedure for the utilization of this toxic gas, as well as, application in environmental monitoring, and leakage alarm.…”
