A facile rout to obtain Al2O3 nanopowder via recycling aluminum cans by sol-gel method

Abstract: Aluminum alkoxide compound was prepared using aluminum cans and used as a precursor in the mesoporous alumina synthesis processes by sol-gel method. The aging temperature of 25, 60, 80°C and period of 12, 24 and 48 h were investigated as the main parameters in determining the sol particle size and the bonding process during the gel process. The results showed that the aging temperature of 80°C and duration of 24 h are the optimum conditions for the synthesis of mesoporous alumina with superior properties in te… Show more

“…The obtained SnO 2 /α-Fe 2 O 3 photocatalysts were washed several times with deionized water and absolute ethanol before they were dried at 60 °C for 12 h. The final products were termed as x-SnO 2 /α-Fe 2 O 3 (x = 0.04, 0.07, and 0.1). The precise control of reaction temperatures is very important to obtain target samples with good crystal structures and homogeneous particle size [ 43 ]. Pure SnO 2 can also be obtained by the process in the bottom of Scheme 1 without adding the α-Fe 2 O 3 .…”

“…Additionally, due to the flexibility of the synthesis process, it is possible to produce materials with specific characteristics by altering the synthesis settings or employing various metal ions. This approach can be applied to explore the synthesis of other nanocomposite materials with potentially remarkable characteristics which integrate the advantages of mesoporous silica with the reactivity and adaptability of the added metal ions, as well as other functionalities [45][46][47][48].…”

“…The sol-gel process has been proposed as an alternative to traditional methods, such as sputtering, CVD, and plasma spray, for applying thin ceramic coatings. Sol-gel thin films are technically visible alternatives to these methods in several known as well as commercially viable alternatives [1][2][3]. The inorganic thin films obtained by the sol-gel method are successfully used in various fields [4,5].…”

“…The last review on sol-gel materials for electrochemistry was published in 1997 [15]. Two new trends were noted: (1) the increased attention to amorphous gels; (2) the rapid spread of organic-inorganic hybrids in all areas of electrochemistry. A book [27] focused on the way to synthesize, assemble, and modify material that find use in the system designed for energy conversion and energy storage was published in 2012 and continues to be of great significant interest.…”
