A Filtering Diplexing Antenna for Dual-Band Operation With Similar Radiation Patterns and Low Cross-Polarization Levels

Abstract: A novel filtering diplexing antenna for dual-band operation is presented. The antenna is composed of a slot-loaded patch and two resonators with a commonly used ground. Dog-bone-shaped slots are used on the ground for achieving broadside magnetic coupling and increasing the isolation between operating bands. The antenna design is based on a second-order Chebyshev bandpass filter synthesis. The proposed antenna exhibits high band-edge selectivity performance, low cross-polarization levels with half-power beamwi… Show more

“…While the antenna integrated with the duplexer, called as filtering duplex antenna, has the characteristics of radiating, filtering, and duplexing, which is more integrated. In Reference , the filtering duplex antenna uses two microstrip resonators with different operating frequencies and then coupled to the slot loaded patch antenna to realize second‐order bandpass filter response, resulting simultaneously transmitting and receiving. While the higher mode is employed in this design, the transmitter‐receiver frequency ratio is large and meanwhile the Tx‐Rx isolation is just 20 dB at the downlink band.…”

“…Typically, some of the new antennas have been studied and designed . A band‐pass filter is used to transmit the energy to the antenna, forming a good filtering antenna.…”

“…However, this filtering antenna is also formed by cascading the antenna and filter resonator, still has a large size. There are several multi frequency filtering antennas . These filters have good multiband characteristics, but they do not achieve dual polarization, which cannot be applied to multi‐channels communication system.…”
