A framework for data quality handling in enterprise service bus

Abstract: Enterprise Service Bus (ESB) is proposed to address the application integration problem by facilitating communication among different systems in a loosely coupled, standardbased, and protocol independent manner. Data sources are maintained out of the ESB's control and there should be a mechanism to select the most suitable data source among all available data sources. Especially, when two or more data sources are about the same object. For instance, it is normal to use more than one sensor to measure pressure … Show more

“…Factor analysis and Cronbach-alpha test were applied to interpret the results. A data quality framework for manage resources in Enterprise Service Bus (ESB) is built in [38]. The framework measures data quality coming from different sensors and selects the most suitable data source among all available data sources, in respect to the data quality metrics: accuracy, trueness, completeness, timeliness, and consistency.…”

“…Firstly, some works address the problem of data quality in the context of an ESB [7] [33] and propose solutions to tackle these issues by using such middleware infrastructure. For instance, in [7] authors consider that data quality management is particularly challenging when there is a large number of data sources. To address this problem authors claim that data quality process must move from the user level to the integration server.…”

“…Although integration platforms, particularly those based on ESBs, provide mechanisms that can be used to control the quality of the data exchanged through them, they do not provide native solutions to address this issue [7] neither in a general way nor for the health area.…”
