A framework of performance indicators used in the governance of logistics platforms: the multiple-case study

Abstract: The logistics platform (PL) can be understood as a place where different actors in the supply chain could be integrated in the same physical location and with this, obtain a greater synergy among the various logistical processes. That enabling an improvement in the level of logistical service provided to the client and representing a competitive advantage for the permanence of these organization's in the market where they operate. The objective of this research was to elaborate a framework of performance indic… Show more

“…One of the objectives of logistics is to guarantee the efficiency and effectiveness of production processes from the origin to the final customer, paying attention to the quality required by the customer, ensuring the reliability of information and the flexibility to meet their needs (Domingues et al, 2015). The activities that converge towards the objectives of logistics are, according to Silva et al (2015), from storage, handling, consolidation and deconsolidation (picking), as well as production scheduling.…”

“…Focus of the existing studies has been on perception and performance of shippers or their representatives (Silva et al ., 2014; Van Den Berg and De Langen, 2015; Wang et al ., 2014), but perception alone did not seem to aid in identifying the cause of the problem as it did not capture the view of the intermediaries, their backward and forward linkages and their service providers. Different optimization techniques like mixed integer linear programming, bi-objective linear programming and sensitivity analysis have been applied at one node or single arm in the multimodal transportation chain (see; Assadipour et al ., 2015; Bruns et al ., 2014; Choong et al ., 2002; Sun and Lang, 2015).…”

“…Consequently, several research methods greatly increase the value of future analysis and research in social sciences including business (Glenn & Gordon, 2009), especially in present and future planning, strategic planning and management approaches (Mckelvey, 2014). Those methods consisted of a) a quite practical and well-known scenario analysis which is appropriate for the multiple future analyses and strategic planning management in the uncertain world (Glenn & Gordon, 2009;Mandel & Wilson, 1993;Mckelvey, 2014;Vargas et al, 2014;Walker et al, 2012) including strategic scenario analysis for studying strategic planning management, using qualitative and strategic approaches (JSB Intelligence, 2005;Mandel & Wilson, 1993;Mazzarino, 2012); b) an explorative and descriptive approach in a small or large scale (Langley, 2014;Lee, 2001) or even in a "Big Data" scale (Biiedrman, 2013) including Delphi techniques (Terbeck, 2014); and c) multiple case study (Silva et al, 2015).…”
