A Fully Automated Assembly Using Solenoid Valves for the Photodegradation and Chemiluminometric Determination of the Herbicide Chlorsulfuron

Abstract: This paper presents a new photochemiluminescent system for the determination of chlorsulfuron in water samples. The light from a low-pressure mercury lamp is used as a clean, reproducible, and inexpensive "reagent" for the derivation of the pesticide, performed in glycine buffer at pH 9.5. Then, the photo-products from irradiation are oxidized by permanganate in sulfuric acid solution. The oxidation reaction was favored by using high temperatures. A comparative study and discussion about the use of polyphospho… Show more

“…The influence of permanganate, as usual and expected (Chivulescu et al 2004;Polo Martí et al 2004;Mervartová 2005) resulted to be very critical with the highest emission at 5 Â 10 24 mol l 21 as illustrated in Fig. 2a).…”

“…This paper deals on an analytical strategy for determination of pesticides in samples of environmental interest by coupling photodegradation and chemiluminescence (Catalá Icardo et al 2003;Ciborowski et al 2004;Chivulescu et al 2004;Mervartová 2005) in an automated system. The automation of the method is performed by means of the new and emergent continuous-flow methodology known as Multicommutation (Catalá Icardo et al 2002;Taylor et al 2003;Polo Martí et al 2004;Taylor et al 2004;Palomeque et al 2004).…”

“…The role of the inclusion complexes formed between β-cyclodextrin and certain organic molecules as enhancers of luminescence quantum yield is well known (Santana-Rodríguez 2006). Sulphite and quinine were the sensitizers of choice in the dinoseb (Waseem 2007b) (Sa 2007), chlorsulfuron (Mervartova 2005) and diphenamid (Czescik 2007). The PICL of this latter pesticide was predicted by applying molecular connectivity.…”
