“…The upstream and downstream regions of genes are often rich in elements that influence transcription and post-transcription regulation, such as transcription factor binding sites, miRNA binding sites, and upstream open reading frames (uORFs) [28][29][30]. Prior research has linked polymorphisms in these regions to variations in gene expression and growth performance [31][32][33][34][35]. In our study, we screened the VNN1 flanking regions and identified 39 SNPs, with 23 linked to carcass traits and 8 reported for the first time.…”

“…Radiation therapy stimulates latent immune cells and is a well-known treatment for cancer, with more than 50% of newly diagnosed cancer patients with solid tumors receiving radiation as treatment. Its mechanism involves causing damage to the DNA backbone or the generation of ROS [16]. In addition, it has been reported that radiation influences the expression of cytokines in the body, such as TNF-alpha and interleukin-1 (IL-1) [33].…”

“…INHA, the gene encoding the inhibin alpha subunit, is involved in mammalian folliculogenesis. The downregulation of INHA caused an increase in apoptosis and induced ROS production via a mitochondrial pathway in the cell [16]. On the other hand, it is shown that normal cells continuously generate ROS as a result of electron leakage from mitochondria through the electron transport system.…”

“…Hepatocyte apoptosis was detected using Flow Cytometry (CytoFLEX, Beckman Coulter, CA, USA) and Kaluza 2.1 software. Hepatocytes were washed with PBS and the concentration was adjusted to 1 × 10 6 cells/mL, and determination was performed as previously described ( Cui et al, 2021 ). DCFH-DA (2, 7-Dichlorofluorescin; Sigma) was added to hepatocytes at a final concentration of 10 μM for 20 min at room temperature, and then the hepatocyte Reactive Oxygen Species ( ROS ) were analyzed using a Shimadzu RF-3501 fluorescence spectrophotometer at an excitation wavelength of 488 nm and an emission wavelength of 525 nm.…”
