A fuzzy logic controller for permanent magnet synchronous machine-a sliding mode approach

Abstract: 38400-902 -Uberlandia -MG -Brazil d b M : This paper presents an application of fuzzy logic t o control the speed of a permanent magnet synchronous machine (PUSU). Based on the analysis of the PUSH transient response and fuzzy logic, a fuzzy controller is developed. The fuzzy controller generates the variations of the reference current vector of the PnSU speed control based on the speed error and its change. The analysis of a sliding mode control is used to tune the fuzzy logic controller. The results of apply… Show more

“…Fuzzy logic, based on fuzzy set theory first formulated by Zadeh, has found recently wide popularity in various applications [14,15]. In the technical domains, FLC is used in two application fields: (i) design of controllers for ill-known systems and (ii) design of non-linear controllers for modelisable systems.…”

“…In addition, in order to consider the uncertainties of power systems, some research works apply adaptive nonlinear technique, neural network and fuzzy logic to design controllers for transient stability improvement ( [38], [70], [89], [90] and [91]).…”

“…Sliding mode fuzzy control introduces fuzzy inference into variable structure controllers mainly to reduce the control chattering [12, 13, 14, 151. Work has also been done towards the design of adaptive rules for the approximation of variable structure controllers [16]. An investigation on the conceptual similarities between the sliding mode and fuzzy control approaches has been reported in [17].…”
