“…Metabolomics is a newly emerging omics approach to the investigation of metabolic phenotype changes induced by environmental or endogenous factors (Deng et al, 2015a, b; Patti, Yanes, & Siuzdak, ; Wang et al, 2015a, b; Wen et al, ; Wen et al, 2016a, b). The identification of endogenous compounds that can be used as metabolic biomarkers of alprazolam abuse would represent an alternative approach of significant importance to detect hidden effects.…”

“…There are currently no specific direct tests that can be used to diagnose poisoned patients. Deng et al applied a GC/MS‐based metabonomics approach to assess the metabolite changes in serum from rats following chronic hydrogen sulfide poisoning. They observed impaired metabolic pathways including lipid metabolism, energy metabolism, and amino acid metabolism in rat serum: decreased levels of amino acids, including alanine, valine, serine, threonine, and proline and elevated levels of galactose, citrate, glucose, and mannose indicate impairment in the carbohydrate metabolism.…”

“…Dextromethorphan, as an over-the-counter medicine, is often rationalized by its users as being safer, easier to obtain, widely accessible and undetected on routine drug screening; furthermore, confirmed dextromethorphan dependence is rarely reported in the literature (Bryner et al, 2006;Desai et al, 2006;Navarro, Perry, & Bobo, 2006;Shin, Lee, Kim, Nabeshima, & Kim, 2008;Logan, Goldfogel, Hamilton, & Kuhlman, 2009). Metabolomics is a newly emerging omics approach to the investigation of metabolic phenotype changes induced by environmental or endogenous factors (Patti, Yanes, & Siuzdak, 2012;Deng et al, 2015aDeng et al, , 2015bWang et al, 2015aWang et al, , 2015bWen et al, 2015Wen et al, , 2016aWen et al, , 2016b.…”
