A Gas Infrastructure Pathways in East Java Using System Dynamic Approach

Abstract: As a developing country, Indonesia has been consuming energy with 114 Million Ton Oil Equivalent (MTOE) and estimated that the demand for energy will increase up to 167,4 MTOE in 2050 by Indonesian Energy Ministry. It is also estimated that natural gas will play the role in fulfilling the energy demand in Indonesia. However, in utilizing the natural gas spread of the regions, Indonesia still lack of natural gas infrastructures. As natural gas infrastructures are playing a vital role on those problems, the cond… Show more

“…Another more recent work done by J. Kusuma to asses the some for the context of East Java, Indonesia [3] he foresaw East Java will have to face a deficit in the upcoming year despite of few attempts to enhance the infrastructure capacity such as Teluk Lamong new LNG terminal. Similar to that of J.Kusuma, the most recent study was also conducted by Haekal [6] with conclusion of suggesting an additional gas infrastructure at certain area as alternative to solve the future gas deficit problem in east Java. Those all the afore-mentioned earlier works were also using System Dynamic modelling simulation for their analysis tool with various objects of observation, this research would like to offer a different scopes and observation objects as the potential research gap to fill in with.…”

“…System Dynamics is a method and tool that is believed to be the most fits to represent a complex system and to determine feedback behaviors over such complex models that represented a real-life situation in realworld system [9]. System Dynamics model was first built under certain modeling structures, main elements and variables are set and a causal loop is further defined.…”

“…An Iranian researcher has used system dynamics model simulation to forecast the future supply and demand of natural gas in Iran and to assess the public policy in determining natural gas pricing in the entire Iranian Energy system. [7], a more recent study has been conducted by group of Indonesian researchers toward the natural gas supply & demand situation in one of Indonesian Province i.e East Java, they used system dynamics model simulation to predict the future shortage of supply and recommending an infrastructure development plant to anticipate the short of supply in the future [8] and [9].…”

“…This research has been widely used to address several problems, for example in studies describing production capacity and demand [3]. In previous years, several studies have been carried out, one of which is to design demand and supply to solve fertilizer shortages in the East Java region [4] and research on gas distribution in East Java using system dynamics [5]. In this study, system dynamics will be used to determine the scenario of oil distribution in Balikpapan -Samarinda.…”
