“…The fact that discoid individuals are not uncommon in S. cymbalaria (Femald 1924;Whitton & Bain 1992) lends some support to this hypothesis. The mesic boreal and montane habitats where S. indecorus is common are shared by S. pauperculus and S. pseudaureus and this may indicate a relationship among these taxa, as has been suggested by Barkley (1962) for S. pseudaureus. A more precise determination of the relationship between these two species is thus important to the understanding of the aureoid complex as a whole.…”
