Microscopic traffic simulation tools are increasingly being employed as an integral part of modeling vehicular traffic and pedestrian activity. However, the complexity of pedestrians' behaviors and their interactions with the various components of the traffic network is commonly under-represented in simulation models, resulting in potentially misleading analyses. This paper explores modeling pedestrians at the microscopic level, attempting to replicate observed pedestrian behavior at a crosswalk in Midtown Atlanta, GA. The VISSIMÒ simulation tool, with pedestrian movement based on the Social Force Model by Helbing and Molnár (Social Force Model for pedestrian dynamics. Phys Rev E 1995; 51: 4282-4286), is utilized.Comparative results of field observations and the microscopic modeling of the same vehicle and pedestrian activity are presented. A primary observation is that, for the intersection studied, only a small percentage of pedestrians appear to comply with the pedestrian signal indication, with the vast majority of pedestrians exhibiting gap-seeking behavior, crossing when a gap is available, regardless of the signal indication. This results in potentially significant over-estimates of wait time if high pedestrian signal compliance rates are assumed. A second notable observation is that the pedestrian crossing behavior is strongly related to the cross-street traffic queue clearance time and subsequent traffic flow. Capturing this interaction significantly enhances the models' ability to reflect the observed field performance.

Recent years has seen the rapid development of rail transit and comprehensive development of underground and aboveground facilities. Against this backdrop, it is imperative to develop a suitable safe evacuation mode for ultradeep underground public spaces. From the perspective of building design, this paper combines the horizontal shelter and vertical evacuation system into a novel safe evacuation mode, consisting of horizontal evacuation, vertical escape route, emergency shelter, horizontal escape route, vertical evacuation system and exit evacuation. Then, building information modelling (BIM) was adopted to simulate the application of our safe evacuation mode to Hongtudi Station, Line 10 of Chongqing Rail Transit (CRT). The results prove that our safe evacuation mode is feasible for evacuating personnel in ultradeep underground public spaces. The research findings shed new light on the safe evacuation technology in ultradeep underground public spaces.

Στη διδακτορική αυτή διατριβή αναπτύχθηκε ένα εργαλείο Υποστήριξης Λήψης Αποφάσεων, βασισμένο στα Συστήματα Γεωγραφικών Πληροφοριών (GIS), με την ονομασία Public Facility Location Tool (PFLT). Το εργαλείο αυτό απευθύνεται, κατά κύριο λόγο, σε μία Δημοτική Αρχή και συγκεκριμένα σε αυτούς που εμπλέκονται στη διαδικασία λήψης αποφάσεων για ν΄αντιμετωπίσουν δύο βασικά χωρικά προβλήματα: α) το πρόβλημα της εκτίμησης της εξυπηρέτησης των πολιτών από την υφιστάμενη θέση συγκεκριμένων Δημοτικών Αγαθών, όπως του πνευματικού κέντρου, του ΚΑΠΗ και των παιδικών σταθμών, β) ή/και την επιλογή μιας νέας βέλτιστης θέσης για την εγκατάσταση νέων εξυπηρετήσεων ή την μετεγκατάσταση των υπαρχουσών, λαμβάνοντας υπόψη διάφορα κριτήρια χωρικά ή μη. Η ανάγκη δημιουργίας και ανάπτυξης του Δημοτικού Συστήματος Υποστήριξης Λήψης Χωρικών Αποφάσεων «PFLT» προέκυψε από τα αποτελέσματα της έρευνας που πραγματοποιήθηκε σε Ο.Τ.Α. της χώρας μας, τα οποία έδειξαν ότι σήμερα καμία Δημοτική Αρχή δεν διαθέτει ένα Σύστημα Υποστήριξης Λήψης Χωρικών Αποφάσεων (SDSS) μ’ένα εύχρηστο περιβάλλον διασύνδεσης για την επίλυση του προβλήματος της χωροθέτησης των Δημοσίων Αγαθών. Αντικείμενο της διατριβής αποτέλεσε: α) ο σχεδιασμός και η ανάπτυξη ενός Συστήματος Υποστήριξης Λήψης Χωρικών Αποφάσεων(SDSS), περιλαμβάνοντας όλα τα απαραίτητα εργαλεία για την διερεύνηση της φύσης του προβλήματος, τον καθορισμό των κριτηρίων-περιορισμών και την ανάλυση των αποτελεσμάτων και β) η δόμηση ενός εύχρηστου και αποτελεσματικού Γραφικού Περιβάλλοντος Διασύνδεσης, με τη χρήση νέων τεχνολογιών και σύμφωνα με τις βασικές και διεθνώς αποδεκτές αρχές σχεδιασμού. Στόχος ήταν η δημιουργία ενός αποτελεσματικού εργαλείου, με το οποίο οι Δημοτικές Αρχές θα μπορούν να διαχειριστούν χωρικά και μη δεδομένα, να θέσουν κριτήρια, και σε συνδυασμό με τη χρήση των μοντέλων χωροθετήσεων–κατανομών να επιλύσουν αποφασιστικά και τεκμηριωμένα το σύνθετο πρόβλημα της χωροθέτησης των Δημοσίων Αγαθών.
