Abstract: The cochlear implant (CI) is a neural prosthetic that is the standard-of-care treatment for severe-toprofound hearing loss. CIs consist of an electrode array inserted into the cochlea that electrically stimulates auditory nerve fibers to induce the sensation of hearing.
